One Day Workshop in February 20,2021

One Day Workshop on February 20 2021 Sign up for a Saturday February 20, 2021 Workshop to paint with Barbara Haviland in my studio. We will start at 9:30 am and paint until we finish the painting. The all day workshop cost is 65.00 bring your own lunch. I will have drinks for you. My space is limited so sign up now. You will have fun. Supplies needed are your ,brushes, and oil paints.  Surface to paint on. 9×12  or 11×14 White, Burnt Umber, Ultramarine Blue, Cad Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Sap Green, Cad Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Brushes of your choice, Palette to mix paints, palette knife. Paper Towels. 11×14 Canvas. table Easel.. I have decided to  supply paint to those that don’t know if they want to try painting.   This is a great way to determine if you even like or want to learn how to paint. I painted this Nederalnd Texas Windmill Museum as part of a  challenge for DailyPaintworks. I did not want to paint the one offered when we have one so close. This one from what I understand is a Dutch Windmill. It is done in oils and is framed.

Usually most of my paintings have roses and so this painting only one rose was placed to give the conflict against the other flowers.  When taking a walk in the woods most of the little objects were found along the path.  The blue and yellow little fruits were so interesting in shape and color so they were added to bring in another texture.

I worked on this today while painting with Canvas by Canvas at our rented studio space while taking a break and in between working on a large zebra painting for a collaboration. After I look at the above painting with fresh eyes tomorrow, it may not look like this again.
It was nice to get back to painting today as for the past 3 days and evenings, I've been updating my web site. It had been neglected for updates for a year and was getting stale. I've added some new work so you've invited to take a look.

I painted this in honor of my friend, Tiffany Nelson, a breast cancer survivor. She is total clothes horse! As women, we all have those quiet moments while getting ready to go somewhere, trying on outfits to see if they still fit or if this goes with that. After her double mastectomy and "new enhancements", I wondered what she was thinking, how she felt as she got used to her new body – sad, curious, elated? I tried to capture a moment like that with "First New Blouse".

This blue floral has texture with some stamping and drawing into the paint with a Derwent Sketching Wash 8 B drawing pencil and lots of negative painting. I will post #2 later and the paintings may be purchased separately or as a pair.

Winsor Newton Artist Opportunity

Winsor & Newton New Acrylics
W & N has developed a new line of acrylics that does not color shift from wet to dry. They are using a translucent binder when wet and it dries clear. The paints remain workable 20% longer than the Finity brand and they are not in the U.S. yet but watch for them. While you're on that home page be sure and click on the red paint spot near the bottom to enter a painting in their competition. You might win some art supplies. No jury here just other artists voting for their favorite painting. This phase closes Sept. 30 and then you can enter again.
