pleased with it. I think her face in shadow worked very well
and there is some attitude in her stance.

A friend sent me this photo to paint. She knew I would like it and I do. I love gourds. I embellished the flowers as I thought they would look nice and bring our the gourds. The painting is done on a 12"x 9" stretched canvas. There are pinks,greens,purples,grays and some white in the painting.

This was something new for me to work out of my comfort zone and go for lots of drama. It must have been a drama kind of day. Love the big blue vase contrasted by the bright colors of the sunflower, orange slice and green little vase. A play on light and dark. If you are looking for Drama than this piece is for you.

Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
Inspired by a dinghy tied up in a small fishing village in Maine, I painted this small 12" x 12" panel with a palette knife and a flat brush. The rocks at the shore have texture, as I used the knife to apply the thick oils. Looking through my photographs from this trip to Maine, I would like to do a series of boat paintings...Thanks for looking at this blog and the art posted. This painting is hanging at the studio. Contemporary Oil Painting
This is a 18" x 18" oil painting on a gallery wrap canvas. Very colorful. Inspired by yarn. Lots of stacked up yarn in a bin. It is a kaleidoscope of variegated colors. I thought I would rename this painting, but Yarn it is. I was thinking that a series of yarn paintings might be interesting...take a trip through a yarn shop and see all of the beautiful colors, textures and thicknesses of the yarns. Maybe I will put that on my to-do list. I am getting ready to start a new series for 2013, but I have not decided exactly what my guidelines for that series will be.
