Which one would you choose?  Allot of new art collectors ask how do I start my art collection on a limited budget.  First decide what type of art makes you happy or feel something.  Do you like color, movement or an expression in the painting.  Start small and build up.  When I find another artist that I admire their work usually I try to collect something smaller.

Spring is starting to spring.  Daylight saving time has arrived and tiny signs of spring are showing up in the garden.  Poppies are one of the first flowers spotted at the nursery.  Just the thought of all the beautiful flowers in the garden lift my spirits and as you watch these poppies dance away in the wind they will spread joy to your life.

Entries!!! Last night I was trying to decide which of the paintings that I had painted for a competition would be the best entry. When an artist enters a competition they are putting themselves out there with a hope that they get in. It is always hard to know what the judges will be looking for and then you ask yourself am I good enough? Will they like my art? Etc. Etc. It comes down to Just Do It! This spring at the flower nursery my eye was fixed upon this double begonia.  It spoke to my heart so of course it had to go home with me.  The first painting of the begonia was painted in a still life set up and was so fun.  But then my thoughts turned to something a little more abstract of the flower so this piece was developed.

Well life events have happened this last week and I have not been at the easel.  So today during the early morning of Daylight Savings time the brushes came out.  What to paint was the question.  My heart told me to keep it simple but lovely at the same time.  So as I stood there in my PJ's and house slippers this little rose painting came out.  My favorite blue flow pot became the partner to balance off the colors of the roses.

The nice handicap gentleman that works at our self service car was was giving out carnations for Valentines this year.  He is always at work helping others.  A big thank you to him for the wonderful service he gives.  My sweet hubby gave me the roses for Valentines but I was so moved by his gesture of the carnations I added them to this still life set up.

The warm fall color abound in the studio these days.  The pumpkins are so fun to paint I can't hardly wait to get to the studio each day.  This particular pumpkin has so much personality with it's vine leave, stems and multi colors.  It just adds warmth to your day along with his admiring pansies.

This was yesterdays demo painting while at Dotson's produce stand for the class.  It started off cloudy, then got sunny and then the 25 mile an hour winds came.  Easels were tossed about, dust in the air and honking cars.  All part of Plein Air painting.  It was so fun being outside with the class.

When getting home and showing sweet hubby my art he first noticed the heart in the painting so this is why I called it hidden heart.

Wow those poppies were so inspiring I had to continue to paint them into a larger garden scene. If you recall I did a small piece called Shriner Poppies in honor of my Uncle and Dad always selling poppies for the Shriners Cripple Childrens Hospital.  The movement of these glorious flowers and their bright red colors just make you feel happy.
