How to Start Collecting Art by artist Pat Meyer

Which one would you choose?  Allot of new art collectors ask how do I start my art collection on a limited budget.  First decide what type of art makes you happy or feel something.  Do you like color, movement or an expression in the painting.  Start small and build up.  When I find another artist that I admire their work usually I try to collect something smaller.

Ray of Sunshine by artist Pat Meyer

This painting reminds me of life sometimes.  We feel that we are all tangled up in the vines being held back but then the Ray of Sunshine shows up and all seems better.  This painting was posted a week or so ago but then after looking at it in the studio realized that it need a few more hidden flowers to hold it together.  Pops of yellow!

My peonies in the garden are starting to peek up through the soil.  My sweet Mom gave me the roots from her garden in Nashville to plant in my yard.  How exciting to see the earth renew itself each year.  We feel that there is always hope when seeing that things are not forever in our lives but will be in constant change and new exciting things will be blooming.

Earlier in the week I painted the sunflower models and they were all so well behaved and acted like the perfect sunflower models.  After listening to rock and roll music and having the nice cool breeze of fall come into the studio they started looking a little wild.  So before they wilted I decided to paint their portrait like they are now.  Wild!
