Rattled by Kay Wyne

Rattled
24" x 24" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Abstract Palette Knife Painting
This painting went through many changes, starting out as a landscape, turning into some dark abstract aspens, then a tornado hit it. (Everyone saw the tornado in the painting!) It was a wiper for sure. I rescued the canvas, but painted it on a day when I was really rattled. I was interrupted at the studio numerous times...therefore, the title, "Rattled". This painting is a detour from my normal palette, being on the dark and muted side of the color spectrum. Thanks for looking at the art on this blog....contact Kay for more information on this painting or the art posted on this blog.

Cowgirl by Kay Wyne

Cowgirl
20" x 20" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Cow
This painting is currently hanging in the studio...I need to varnish it, and then it will be ready to go to a gallery.  Cowgirl has beautiful coloring, and a soft, pink snout that you want to reach out and touch.  She is looking directly at you, as if she has something on her mind.  Cowgirl was at the Ft. Worth Livestock Show last month.  I have some great reference photos, so there are more cows coming!  Thanks for looking at this blog.  Contact Kay for more information on this painting or any of the art posted.  Have a great day....Kay

Overlook at Abiqui, Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Overlook at Abiqui
9x12 oil on raymar canvas

I  drove by this view in Abiqui and slammed on my breaks to stop.  We set up quickly and painted the fading light. It was in the late afternoon and the color was glowing. This was one of my favorite spots while visiting the Santa Fe area. This is available for purchase. $250.00

Demo at Dutch Art Gallery by Kay Wyne

Here is a pic of the demo that I did at Dutch Art Gallery yesterday. I started by toning the canvas with a warm grey. Then began putting the paint on with my palette knife. I had taped off some of the larger areas that would eventually have titanium white so that the white would not get muddy or streaked. The canvas is 36" x 36" so it will take a while to get it covered with paint...it will take alot of paint for sure.

The day went by fast because there were alot of people stopping in. Pam had a constant stream of framing customers, and then there were those who came in to see the Artists of Texas Annual show, Where Texas Finds It's Color... artistsofTexas.orgArtistofTexas.blogspot.comDailyPaintersofTexas.blogspot

I hope to take this canvas to the studio today and work on it. Thanks for viewing this blog. Thanks for stopping in at The Dutch Art Gallery to see the show. Kay

Eleven Eggs by Kay Wyne

This painting is hanging at Dutch Art Gallery. Nests are one of my favorite things to paint. Nests are like people....they come in different sizes, shapes and colors, and are interesting. I have a small collection (two or more make a collection, right?) of nests that I have found. I need to expand my collection of two! I will be working on a commission piece today and probably painting plein air if it isn't too chilly here in Dallas. I hope that you enjoy viewing this blog. Happy Monday!

S Hodges: Sun Goddess in Green, 20x16x2

I have a good bit of reference material of people soaking up the sun in various degrees of undress. My favorite perspective is looking from the deck above...it was easy to observe the patterns, colors, and shadows without intruding on the individual's solitude. I plan a series of these...they could be interesting hung together, but each will stand on its own composition. I am currently painting on gallery depth linen, so no need to frame. If you wish to purchase this painting ($320.), contact me or use the PayPal button below. To see more of my work, please visit my blog.

Autumn's Eve - Thaw Malin iii

"Autumn's Eve"

"Autumn's Eve" , this is a Small painting, 6"x 8", oil on canvas panel.

This may not look like a protected place from which to paint, but with a West or North wind it is. The sun was dodging in and out of clouds when I arrived. I almost didn't see this glowing opportunity as it was clouded at first. I like to get out and walk a little to "feel" a vista. I take a few reference photos with my iPhone's camera. They're not the best photos, but good for reminders. I had done all this and was about to wander back to my van when I took one last look at the boat. The sun had broken through and the reflection on the boat was stunning...

No Rhyme or Reason - Thaw Malin iii

"No Rhyme Or Reason"

"No Rhyme or Reason" , this is a Small painting, 6"x 8", oil on canvas panel

Another rain drenched day, sitting in the van painting with wind howling all around. I caught most of this image on location. Then had to finish at home as the wind was rocking the van to distraction. It felt good to be out working, but not so good having to complete so much back in the studio...

If you'd like to purchase, please click Go to my Auction, bidding starts at $100.00 US.

Bluebird Summer Rental - Thaw Malin iii

"Bluebird Summer Rental"

"Bluebird Summer Rental" , this is a Small painting, 6"x 8", oil on canvas panel

If I were a Bluebird, this is where I would hang my hat for the summer. Water views on two sides. Fresh water marshes on 3 sides. Open field with berry patches just over the stonewall behind. Nice neighbors all around...

If you'd like to purchase, please click Go to my Auction, bidding starts at $100.00 US.

Bag Lady by Kay Wyne

Bag Lady
Oil on 8" x 10" Canvas
This painting is one I started months ago, and forced myself to finish. John and I were in New York City visiting about a year ago, and we were taking a break, sitting in a park people watching. This lady was very busy filling her bags with treasures from the trash can. One person's trash is another person's treasure....I believe that is how the saying goes. I thought this lady had alot of character. This painting is for sale. Please contact me for more information. Thanks for viewing this blog. kay@kwyne.com

Rodeo Cowboy by Kay Wyne

Rodeo Cowboy
Oil on 24" x 24" Gallery Wrap Canvas
I wanted to show the energy, movement and colorful excitement of the rodeo in this painting. It is on a 24" x 24" gallery wrap canvas, painted in oils. At the very start of this painting, the horse was standing. I changed the angle of the horse, and decided that it would be more interesting to have it kicking off the canvas. And moving, not standing. I will go back to the studio tomorrow and probably make a few minor changes and photograph it again. I liked the fringed on the chaps and the mane on the horse....seemed to get all tangled up in the ride. I thank you for viewing my blog, and welcome any comments on my latest painting! This painting is currently at the Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas.

Horizon Series: Abstract 23 by Kay Wyne

Horizon Series: Abstract 23
Oil on 18" x 18" Gallery Wrap Canvas

This colorful abstract is another one of my Horizon Series. The layers of of paint have been applied with the palette knife, and I did use the brush and oil pastel stick for some variation in this painting. The sides of the canvas are also painted, so this canvas does not need a frame. It is ready to hang! If you are interested in this painting, please contact me. http://kwyne.com/myblogs.html
