Just Sold! "Spring's Glory" was inspired by a recent trip to the Texas Hill Country. This spring conditions were perfect, and the bluebonnets were amazing! While we were near Fredericksburg, we took a scenic drive along the Willow City Look and as we approached the top of a hill about half way around, we were greeted by this gorgeous view of the rolling hills and bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush in full bloom. Then, to top it off the sun was setting in the distance casting its golden glow and backlighting the wildflowers. I had to capture the magical moment, enhancing the kaleidoscope of colors in the sky and along the ground. Arranging clouds, the road and rows of bluebonnets in rhythmic sweeping shapes, create a harmonious landscape that flows with light, texture and color, and suggest a feeling of optimism about what's to come.

The Good Art Company Gallery, one of my favorite places on earth, is having a Winter White Art show in December. I've been mulling around a few ideas, and wonder if a painting of really pale stargazers would qualify. If I ask my husband, he will suggest white dogs playing poker with a white table cloth or an albino Elvis on white velvet. He is always helpful that way.

"Love You Like a Sister" Lylas Laurie
This whimsical figure is one in a series I've called "Lylas". I don't have a sister but share a close association with 7 members of Canvas by Canvas and I refer to them as "my sisters" and we often sign our emails with "lylas". One in the group suggested I name the paintings from the group so my list is expanding to family and other friends. This one is named for a new online friend, Laurie who is responsible for the Daily Painters of Texas. Thanks, Laurie, for being a lylas friend.
I've painted 4 in a new series for the miniature section (under 14 in.) for the "Preservation is the Art of the City" show September 11-26, 2009 at the Community Arts Center, Fort Worth, TX, free and open to the public. Fifty local artists were juried to exhibit in this show and have the choice to exhibit one or up to 9 paintings each. A portion of the sales will help fund preservation programming for Historic Fort Worth. I hope you can visit the show.
