Tea Time White Rose by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Tea Time White Rose by Nancy Medina
8X10
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Tea Time White Rose is the Newest painting in the studio, as I begin work on a container garden for my favorite Coronado CA gallery, begin packing for my 3-day workshop in Fredericksburg, Texas, next weekend, and finish framing new paintings for my solo show at The Good Art Company Gallery Friday night.  All these sound like pressing issues, but truly the most important Saturday task has been throwing the new ice cream cone toy for Studio Director AnnieBee. The pictures on my art blog were taken of her majesty as she stationed herself strategically in front of my easel at least a dozen times today, in exactly this pose. I know dogs cannot talk, but I am definitely getting a sense of her message.

Step by Step Oil Painting - Blissfully Content Sunflowers and Lazy Daisies by Texas Artist Nancy Medina

Blissfully Content Sunflowers
and Lazy Daisies
by Nancy  Medina
16X20
Oil on Linen Board

Blissfully Content Sunflowers and Lazy Daisies was finished around 2 am, three hours before it was time to get up and go to the office and start the day job. Sometimes when I get in the zone, I simply cannot stop - and the white gerbera daisies were looking so cute and fresh and producing all kinds of interesting golden and green shadow tones. When the paint starts flowing like that, I hate to walk away. Sometimes I wake up the next morning and the muse has been muted! Speaking of the zone, there is no place more divine to paint than the Dallas Arboretum, and I'm excited to be heading there to teach again on Saturday to a full class! For everyone who will be joining me June 9, be prepared - I found a new donut shop that makes the BEST glazed I've ever tasted!

For those waiting for an update on the release of my first sunflower video, hubby finished the downloading and is working on the editing now! Because you've been so patient and been so kind not to mention my recent sunflower obsession, there is another step by step sunflower demo on my art blog today for you. Enjoy!

Step by Step Sunflower Daisy Painting and My First Video Demo by Texas Artist Nancy Medina

Sunflower Daisy Divas by Nancy Medina
18X18
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Sunflower Daisy Divas was my first attempt at a painting demonstration on video today, courtesy of cameraman hubby and my four studio pugs who provided background snoring and snuffling sound effects. Hubby is working on the final movie edit, while all four pugs wonder anxiously who will end up on the cutting room floor, since I did insist that each of them be introduced and their specific studio roles and tasks explained. While we wait with bated breath to see what might be the first flower painting demo with a pug in it ever before produced on the Pug Planet, I've shared a little step by step of the sunflower demo we filmed today on my art blog. Stay tuned to the bloggy for more on this developing news item, but to see sunflowers painted in the flesh, join me for my Summer Saturday Sunflower workshop on June 23! Read more...
