This painting is one of my entries for the Preservation is the Art of the City Show September 11-26 at the Community Arts Center. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Fifty local artists are selected to participate by a jury and a portion of sales will help fund preservation programming for Historic Fort Worth. I am working on 9 entries for this show and the above is the largest.
This is the disappearing painting. It was posted on DPOT at one time but the image has disappeared so here is the image and information again.

This little donkey would come to the fence every time some one would call his name and say "Hi Bill" He was entered into the Fort Worth show Preservation is the Art of the City put on by the Fort Worth Preservation Society each year. This year I am entering another of his buddies and will show him later.

"My Town" is one of the nine paintings that will be in the Preservation is the Art of the City Show in September.

We are reminded of our old west heritage when we watch cowboys drive the Fort Worth herd through the stockyards. As a former resident of Fort Worth and a native Texan, I consider Fort Worth "My Town", a town of cowboys and culture.

"Love You Like a Sister" Lylas Laurie

This whimsical figure is one in a series I've called "Lylas". I don't have a sister but share a close association with 7 members of Canvas by Canvas and I refer to them as "my sisters" and we often sign our emails with "lylas". One in the group suggested I name the paintings from the group so my list is expanding to family and other friends. This one is named for a new online friend, Laurie who is responsible for the Daily Painters of Texas. Thanks, Laurie, for being a lylas friend.
I've painted 4 in a new series for the miniature section (under 14 in.) for the "Preservation is the Art of the City" show September 11-26, 2009 at the Community Arts Center, Fort Worth, TX, free and open to the public. Fifty local artists were juried to exhibit in this show and have the choice to exhibit one or up to 9 paintings each. A portion of the sales will help fund preservation programming for Historic Fort Worth. I hope you can visit the show.
