This whimsical figure is one in a series I've called "Lylas". I don't have a sister but share a close association with 7 members of Canvas by Canvas and I refer to them as "my sisters" and we often sign our emails with "lylas". (Love You Like A Sister). One in the group suggested I name the paintings from the group so my list is expanding to family and now includes other friends. This one is named for an online friend who is assisting with the gallery show at the Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas where this painting will be found.

This painting is one of my entries for the Preservation is the Art of the City Show September 11-26 at the Community Arts Center. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Fifty local artists are selected to participate by a jury and a portion of sales will help fund preservation programming for Historic Fort Worth. I am working on 9 entries for this show and the above is the largest.
This is the disappearing painting. It was posted on DPOT at one time but the image has disappeared so here is the image and information again.

I went to a fun workshop with Robert Burridge in Corpus Christi last October. Read more about it HERE. I had gessoed my paper with Daniel Smith's gold gesso and painted acrylics over it (loosely) and some can still be seen in places and painted with the gesso some. I do love that sparkly look and I added some touches of line work. I didn't use any reference material and I enjoy painting this way - taking a little risk in not knowing the outcome.
