Contemporary Impressionistic Landscape and Floral Palette Knife Garden Oil Painting by Sheri Jones

                                                     Garden Entrance

                                                   20x16 oil on canvas

My garden continues to inspire new paintings.  It is still blooming brilliant flowers with color bursting out. Being in the quiet of the garden is a happy place.  I created a small study before attempting this larger version. It really helps with color and design.  Where flowers bloom so do hope and happiness.

The Godmother - original oil pastel figurative painting

We hear a lot about godfathers, but not so much about godmothers, of whom I am one.  It's an awesome responsibility.  I loved the tender way this woman held her little godson as they were waiting to go into the church.  You can tell it was early in the spring, because not even a tiny baby would need a blanket in the triple digits we've been having this summer.
This piece is on 7 x 5" Pastelbord.  To see more of my artwork, please click here to visit my blog.

Hot Sunflowers by artist Pat Meyer

Sunflowers always like to be the center of attention with the drama they create.  Well to give them even more help for that stage I created the red background cloth.  But as we all need friends to keep us calm and going in the right direction the introduction of the blue vase and pansies gave peace to the sunflowers wild day.  May your friends provide peace to your day.

Misty by Kay Wyne

Misty
30" x 30" Oil on Canvas
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
This painting needs a handsome frame.
This palette knife painting has gone through many changes, with layers and layers of color.  I moved and pushed the paint around, changed the colors, changed the horizon line and the path.  It was a misty and moody day in Dallas...and I saw alot of the greys, lavenders and the start of spring green when I painted this.  It has an impressionistic feel to it.  I don't know how long it will take to dry, even with the impasto.....but I think it will look nice framed up.  Contact Kay for more information on this painting.  Thanks for looking at this blog.....Kay

Today I spent the day framing some of my newest pieces and when putting Shy Roses in her frame she just came to life.  The richness of the frame seem to make her sing.  She is all dressed up and ready for a new home for Spring.

Beauty on the Vine by artist Pat Meyer

Last week when walking into the store I spotted these marvelous yellow and red roses.  My heart began to skip a beat and my mind was racing on how they could be my next models in the studio.  They seem to enjoy their job and held their position while the painting commenced. Now the studio is filled with color and I can almost smell their sweet fragrance.

Do you ever stop and just ponder the beauty that surrounds us in our daily life.  Looking for the goodness and things that enrich your soul.  We have to take time to be quiet and just let nature speak to us and renew our souls.  It is in that time of reflection that we gain greater knowledge of who we are and what really matters.  The View From Our Texas Home lets me escape to those places in my heart that renew me.

It has been 3 weeks since I picked up brushes.  So starting off for the first painting for 2015 decided to start with a small little fun painting.  What is better than the smiling faces of pansies.  They always make me feel happy.

The glow of the vase against the yellow of the flower is just grand with the opposite of colors.  Then to balance this painting I used the orange and green to really hold the viewers eye into the painting.

Today we are having an ice and snow storm with snow thunder going on.  Thought this little foral would brighten our spirits in the middle of this winter season.  "Praying for Spring" only seemed appropriate to name the painting.

SPRING TEASE BY ARTIST PAT MEYER

11 X 14 OIL ON LINEN

Had a challenge to name this painting and Suzy Skeen called it Spring Tease.  In the middle of all the cold weather we have been having these little Pansies are teasing us with their fresh Spring look. They kept dancing around in the pot like they were just teasing me to paint them on this 9 degree snowy day.

BEAUTY QUEEN BY ARTIST PAT MEYER

8 X 10 OIL ON LINEN
PAT@MEYER.NET

Many people voted for what flower they wanted to see in the New Year and a white rose with pink petals was a top contender.  So here she is making her first appearance as a Beauty Queen.  She feels that she has shown up her yellow rose friend and daisy buddy to be the star of the show.  Painting things beautifully is one of my goals for the new year.

Jimmy Longacre_subjective impressionist landscape paintings_ZION CREEK BEND

The road that runs through Zion Natl. Park presents an almost endless array of beautiful scenes to improvise into paintings.  I was, at first, captured by the panoramic views of mountains and towering cliffs.  After the first few days, I began to notice more intimate views surrounding me.  This one was the first such scene I tried that had no massive mountains with sky.  I was starting to feel at home in the canyon, so I settled down to pay closer attention to the variety of stunning scenery.
