In exactly seven days, I'll be heading back to France! With students joining me from Australia, Canada, and across the US, I predict there will be plenty of painting, shopping and eating. I can hardly wait for gelato and croissants and all the yummy dishes Chef will prepare. I'm not a bit concerned about weight gain, after all, the more you weigh, the harder you are to kidnap! This evening I'm working the late shift in the Flower Factory. Watch Your New Tulip Movie!

Framed in Violet White roses celebrates the push and pull of warm and cool violets, and how it can be just so much fun to let your hair down and play with color. Today the pugs and I are celebrating in the studio the release of my full-length, free tulip video. Just a flower footnote for all those who watch, unlike my professional DVDs, Pink Pirouette Tulip on video was just an amateur production done by yours truly, with her puggy assistants, so the sound is not high quality. I beg your forgiveness for that, though, if you listen closely, as a consolation prize, you might just hear snoring, snorting, barking and other assorted puggy noises! Stay tuned to the end for some fun out-takes involving the helpers!

Color Connection is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio, it's so good to be home after back to back trips. I'll be sending out a big announcement via the newsletter Thursday, so be sure to sign up if you haven't already. I also have a new FREE video I made for you while flying home from New Orleans this week. I've discovered sitting on a plane is about the only time I can dedicate uninterrupted time to editing videos. Since we are all waiting with bated breath for my DVD lessons to launch (I'm being patient, I swear I am, my videographer is wonderful and she has a new baby, after all, the best reason on earth not to rush your videographer....), it seemed only proper that we have a little appetizer video to hold us over. Violet Rain Hydrangeas is the newest painting in Flower Mound Studio, created under the spotlight and camera lens yesterday during my all-day filming session. No pressure! I soothed my camera shy nerves by telling myself all my students were right there behind the lens, enjoying donuts and coffee and getting ready to join me for afternoon paint-along sessions, just like old times. After editing is complete, and distribution and production is all polished and perfected, I'll be announcing where and when you can buy my new lessons. I'm still deciding whether to offer these as DVD only, or on demand online for streaming on the computer. What type of lesson do you like best? I have a feeling there will be long hours of research ahead for the best delivery method!

Tickled by Sunshine Sunflowers is one of two new dailies in Flower Mound Studio. Tonight I have tired feet, after spending the day under the spotlights. I filmed two instructional DVDs today, one on hydrangeas, and one on sunflowers. For those with enquiring minds, I did not wear a pug shirt, after all, since my apron would have covered it. I opted for layers and layers because Baby It's COLD outside in North Texas! Stay tuned to my art newsletter for announcements on when and where to get your copy of my new DVDs to come.

I'm stretching these fresh daisies for as long as they hold out under the spotlight, and if you think this vase is looking very familiar, you are absolutely right! What a busy day, two puggies went and got their teeth cleaned, and another went to the vet for his itchy medicine and a puggy peddi. I had to pack up all my paints and supplies after that because tomorrow I'm filming my first video! What does one wear in a painting video. Should I dress up with pearls like Julia Child? Or wear all black and a beret and pretend to have a french accent. The real question, though, is whether or not to wear a pug shirt. What do you think is proper video attire?

My new introduction video is out (the part where I say howdy), and my first two instructional videos are scheduled for production. Thank you so much to those who have been waiting patiently for some time. You may recall my first attempts at amateur filming in the studio, the interesting interjection of unfortunate pug noises and the story of Hubby as Director. (Okay married ladies, we all know that was a hazardous role reversal). To make a long story short, if you want a job done right, finished ahead of schedule, and completed on an exacting and professional level, hire a woman!

Summer Rain Red Geraniums was one of my class demonstrations in Lees Summit, Missouri last month, from our step by step afternoon paint-along sessions. These flowers were based on Connie Turner's glorious garden, the one you may recall we moved indoors, right into the classroom, one giant pot at a time. I decided I wanted to paint in oils years ago, for the first, time, after seeing a red geranium painting that made me want to cry. It was so beautiful, and the color so rich. If I could paint a geranium like that someday, I knew I would find perfect happiness. Little did I know, the art journey itself has given me just as much joy. For those who have walked this path with me over the years, I will have some exciting news coming up in the next few weeks, so stay tuned to my art blog for all the flower news fit to print!
