Tuscan Poppy and a Flower Painting Workshop by Texas Artist Nancy Medina

Tuscan Poppy
by Nancy Medina
10X10
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

The best thing to do after painting poppies all day with my students is to come home and paint poppies! Tuscan Poppy is the newest small work in the studio, as AnnieBee snores on her pillow by the easel. This morning I was so excited about taking two dozen glazed and chocolate donuts to class I could hardly wait to arrive before sampling one or three! Tomorrow we will be painting white tulips and fuschia snapdragons, at least that's what we decided today. In the morning we may be persuaded to paint sunflowers instead - one never knows! I'm always just a bit sad on the last day of a 3-day workshop, but the good news is another workshop is coming up very soon, I sure hope to see you there.  My demo from class today is on my Web site, in case you'd like to take a peek.

SOLD ~ Climb High Poppy Painting by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Climb High Poppies
by Nancy Medina
16X20
Oil on Panel

SOLD

Climb High Poppies is the newest painting in Flower Mound Studio, as Texas rushes headlong into winter chill. My yard is filled with flowers blooming, but in two days I will be surprised if any survive. This is my favorite time of year, with holidays right around the corner, footheaters keeping the puggies warm, the fireplace going full blast, hot chocolate with whipped creme on top, and fuzzy blankets and throws on all the chairs. And the best part is knowing I will be spending vacation time with mom! I'm counting the days... I hope you have some fun holiday memories ahead!

Red Flame Poppies by Texas FlowerArtist Nancy Medina

Red Flame Poppies
by Nancy Medina
16X20
Oil on Linen Board

Red Flame Poppies is a new painting in Flower Mound Studio at the end of a very productive day - the hubby finished taping my sunflower DVD and so just a few more edits and it should be ready for distribution! We had to re-shoot the opening segment, since this is the part where my face shows and I actually speak, and let's just say that Take One required a great deal more air brushing and soft lighting. This time I actually wrote what I was going to say instead of trying to wing it, and taped it in big letters to Carlos' chest since he was holding the camera. I think he has earned extra brownie points for re-shooting the opening and letting me tape my speech to his chest, don't you?

Growing Light White Roses by Texas Artist Nancy Medina

Growing Light White Roses ~ Detail
36X48 Container Garden
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Growing Light White Roses is a detail from my newest project. Take a peek at my art blog to see the latest 36X48 container garden blooming in the studio. My favorite Coronado Island, California gallery called with a request for a painting with reds, whites, and yellows, terra cotta pots and some woven basket pots. I'm hoping to finish this up tomorrow because - oh yes! I have to pack for my art show on July 6 in Fredericksburg, Texas! I sure hope to see you at The Good Art Company Gallery Friday night if you are in the Hill Country. Stop by and say howdy and eat some snacks with me and let's talk art!

Pitcher of Red Poppies by Nancy Medina

Pitcher of Red Poppies

SOLD

12X12
Oil on Canvas
nancy@nancymedina.com

I found this awesome little pitcher at a boutique in Southlake, Texas, last weekend and could hardly wait to get it home and fill it with red, red flowers. Of course, there were no red poppies to be found in the stores, so I settled for red carnations to give me just enough kick to imagine they were poppies.

This painting and several other of my newest works will be featured during our Texas Daily Painters Show at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas in October. If you'd like an invite, drop me a note so I can put you on my mailing list! I would absolutely love to see you there.
