Sunflowers always like to be the center of attention with the drama they create.  Well to give them even more help for that stage I created the red background cloth.  But as we all need friends to keep us calm and going in the right direction the introduction of the blue vase and pansies gave peace to the sunflowers wild day.  May your friends provide peace to your day.

This is the latest and probably final pumpkin painting for the season.  After buying the pansies for the set up the other day my heart went back to wanting to paint flowers.  This painting is still on the easel and has all the warm tones just in time for the fall season.

"Max" Portrait Painting in progress by Gwen Bell

10 x 10 oil on canvas

I'm having so much fun with this Commission!
I don't paint many Portraits...unless it's a Pet Portrait...
so hope he doesn't end up looking like a Cocker Spainiel!
Hopefully, I'll have an update soon.

The inside of the larger mug is an Ultra Marine.
Thought it made an interesting blue reflection
on the smaller mug.

My cousin has the most incredible Salt & Pepper
Shaker collection. She was kind enough to let me
bring a few home to paint. These little Elephants
are my favorites!

"Lucy & Gabriel" Original Pet Portrait by Gwen Bell

10 x 8 oil on canvas panel SOLD

Don't you love seeing cats and dogs getting along?
As Artist and friend Kelley MacDonald observed,
it looks like Lucy held Gabriel down until he gave
up and agreed to be friends. Isn't that the Dog Way?
That and some strategic sniffing. The next time you
see someone "different", try this method and see
how it works!

"Bono" original pet portrait by Gwen Bell

6 x 6 oil on masonite

This sweet little guy belonged to my dear friend, Clara.
She rescued him from a shelter about 6 years ago.
All dogs are special but Bono was a Super Star.

He was diagnosed a few weeks ago with inoperable Cancer.
The past two weeks of his life were spent with daily trips to
the Dog Park and car rides to give his little nose a treat.

We said our last goodbyes this morning and took him to the Vet
where he died in his Momma's arms. He was only 7 years old.
Sleep peacefully, Sweet Bono. We will miss you.

Couldn't help imagining that one

Edemame and Sake...one of my favorite snacks. I was
enjoying my little snack when I noticed the composition
was pretty good. Always trying to find that next painting!

I love wine but unfortunately it gives me a headache.
However, found that Sake doesn't. Maybe some ingredient
that is not in the rice wine as opposed to the grapes? I always
enjoy drinking it from this cute little Oriental Sake cup.
