Overboard by artist Pat Meyer

When at the garden center earlier this week they were starting to put out all the little starter plants.  Well before I left the buggy was full of small assorted plants.  When arriving back at the studio just couldn't decide which model I liked the best so they all got the privilege of being a model for my newest painting.  My favorite flowers was the small pansies just twisting and turning each way amoung all the other flowers.  Then the miniature buttercups reached for the top of the bunch.  Each flower was looking for their own personal attention.

Fall is in the air as they say and the warm color abound with such glory.  It is one of my favorite times of year to paint.  I get so excited about painting the pumpkins and pansies and this year added the little dried corn and veggies.

You Are My Sunshine by artist Pat Meyer

These models where just going their own way and dancing to their own drummer.  My students wanted a bright simple still life demo of flowers with petals.  Learning to paint petals you must first see them as a value not a petal.  After finishing this demo for them I turned to my students and told them they are my sunshine so that is how this painting got it's name

This cute little wild flowers growing in the yard became the volunteers for the day to model in the studio.  The blue jade vase held them for all to see and were so proud to be selected as todays model.
Thank you for viewing my art and for your support.

Well the garden is full of these smiling faces and many more flowers are on there way for this spring. Adding the fruit and veggies to the mix makes me want to get out and plant the garden and just watch what grows.  How can you resist smiling when you see pansies they all have such friendly faces.

This winter has been long and cold but at the end of this was the promise of beautiful winter flowers. The Camillia bush must have loved this type of weather because it is full of blooms.  Nothing is more rewarding than having your own gardens flowers to paint.

Focal Rose by artist Pat Meyer

Spring Sale

Trying out a new canvas surface called Ampersand and love the finish quality but boy is this product slick to paint on.  The richness of the paint really shows up and holds the paint to the surface but you better be ready to gently lay the paint onto the canvas to assure yourself not to lift up the bottom layers.

Continuing my Spring Sale with this painting offering it at half price
