My mother always had a garden and made sure she had vegetables of all kinds available for us three children to eat. I credit my mother with teaching me to like fresh vegetables. Good memories! In my mind I can see Mom working in the garden.

In my wash and line technique, Charlie Boy is my pet portrait showing the character of a fine Boxer who was rescued by Lone Star Boxer Rescue in Houston, Texas.

Charlie's foster mom fell in love with and adopted him 4 years ago. Not too long ago, Charlie was diagnosed with mast cell disease. His mom knows that her time with Charlie will be short and reminds herself daily that the quality of time spent with Charlie is more meaningful than their quantity of time together. We would all do well to remember that in our relationships with pets AND people.

Yesterday I painted this watercolor of an East Texas landscape. This dirt road cuts through the woods and curves left and then right to follow its path across the narrow dam on a small pond.

Greens Straight Out of the Garden by V. Bridges-Hoyt

ART. Painted alla prima in the studio, this was a joy to paint. People say to me "turnip greens?" and I answer Yes! Turnip greens remind me of my time growing up on the farm. Somewhere I have a photo of my mom and my toddler children gathering vegetables out of the garden. This one was painted pretty much straight out of my mind. So here you see my impression of Greens Straight out of the Garden. This is an oil painting on 16 x 20 inch canvas. Frame not included. Monitors vary in color matching. Typically I get a pretty good match, but this original painting has greener leaves than the image on my monitor. I'll be donating a portion of sale proceeds to Texas Children's Cancer Center.  #9025 Greens
