Bixby Farm by artist Pat Meyer

The sun was bright the season is getting ready to change.  You can feel fall starting to peek her head onto your neck as the wind blows.  Painting outside is such a great joy being in nature and experience living in the moment of that time and space. To be able to capture that in a painting brings great joy.  The reason I wanted to paint this scene is because of all the layers that it created.

Fall is coming with all it's warm colors but the last of the summer flowers are doing their last blooms.  Could not resist painting this flower garden in Osage County.  The pink flower had such a glowing personality so it became the center of the garden scene to showcase it's beauty.

Still having fun going on location and painting the local barns and farms.  This little goat farm could be located anywhere in the USA.  It's charm and out buildings makes you wonder what all they are are doing there.  The goats play behind the barn in the pasture.

It was a glorious sunny day.  So left the house looking for something to paint when this charming cottage and azaleas garden appeared.  Stop the car and set up the easel!  The painting process was begun by this inspiring site.  What better way to spend the morning that in the outdoors painting.

Grove Snowball Bush by artist Pat Meyer

My Great Grandmother Grove had the most beautiful snowball bush that ran down the driveway side of the house.  We as kids would pull the big blossoms off the bush and play with them.  It use to upset her and now I know why.  The bushes are so beautiful and blow in the wind so gracefully.  On Friday I took the opportunity of the glorious day to paint outside in the backyard of my snowball bush that I planted in her honor.  This is the first of two paintings that were done this weekend of this delightful bush.

This time of year the flowers are starting to peek up in the garden.  This Iris is blooming and was calling out to be painted.  My Mom gave me several bulbs from her yard and this white one bloomed this year.  What a blessing to have my Mom's Iris all the way from Tennessee.  A little Tennessee in the my yard.

Sometimes when you do a painting it is almost complete but after sitting in the studio for a week or so you determine that some adjustments need to be made.  Adjustments made to this rose garden scene.  The roses are flowing all around with all the different colors enter twinning to create a flow of flowers abounding.

While driving down the road looking for the perfect spot to paint these lovely roses and flowers caught my eye.  That danced like sugar plums dancing in my head.  The layers of colors where so delightful that I tried capturing them in a short time frame.  The old tree was the rugged balance needed for the painting.

Spring is here and the garden bunnies are coming out to see what is available.  The Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas has asked it's artist to paint some whimsical animal paintings.  This is the first of the series for me.  Of course I had to add some pansies for them to eat.  They seem to eat all my pansies.

In Texas we have a saying about our fall.  Green to Brown leaves on the ground.  That is pretty much how fall goes in Texas.  So paint quick for inspiration.  When starting this piece I did a layer of textural effects to give the painting more depth.
