Was wandering through the yard trying to decide what to paint on this hot steamy day.  The flowers from the different plants were selected and now time to head to the studio to have fun with my new models.  After selecting a layered composition and what was going to be my focal area time to paint these lovely creations.

Yesterday was a perfect day in the studio.  Music playing, brushes working, and flowers being great models.  These beauties showed up from the garden just in time to put together with the old jar vases to give it that beautiful casual look.  The jars are in the old wire carrier.  One flowers stood out in all her glory so she because the queen of the flowers.

Exciting the new flowers are blooming in the garden.  Time to cut a few and bring to the studio.  Having fun showing the almost spent rose verses the blooming rose and the new bud in this painting. When starting the demo for class the students requested that I approach this painting in a abstract manner.  Yippee something different.  The same thought process goes into an abstract painting. The direction of light the shadow planes and of course drawing is still involved.

This Valentine my sweetie gave me a dozen red roses.  Some of them open and some of them didn't.  That seems to be the way for roses nowadays from the store.  This was a 30 minute demo painting for a small group last week.  One rose reminded my of Love and the other one hanging it's head in rejection of opening.
