This Is How It Is
8" x 8" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
This rooster is yacking away, telling you just how it is.
I finished this painting yesterday in the studio.
I also worked on a large piece that I have been struggling with for weeks.
It was one of those days that I bounced around from painting to painting.....and I have several projects going on for the studio.
Thanks for looking at this blog...have a great day.

The Buster Boy by Kay Wyne

The Buster Boy
10" x 12" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
#24 in the 30-30 Challenge:
This rooster has attitude and is a real Buster.  He sticks his chest out and prances around proudly.  I enjoyed painting on this 10" x 12" panel, as I feel very restricted and cramped on the small 8"x 8" panels that I have been using most of the time for this challenge.   I actually started another painting yesterday.....something other than a rooster or hen....a horse!  I don't have a reference photo for the horse....he just came to me when I was playing around at the easel.  There are five paintings left to go in the challenge, and I do have a commission that is completed to post for #30.  So really I have four more paintings to go.....Yahoo!  This has been a good challenge, and I doubt that I will stop painting on a daily basis since it is a habit at this point.  Thanks for viewing.....Kay@kwyne.com.  KMW

On my easel...by Kay Wyne

On my easel...I started this painting earlier this week.  I had wanted to do something different with the background, but got into the rooster and chickens, and could not stop.  I doubt that I can get the background work done at this point without messing up the chickens.  I have discovered after many years, it is best not to "fuss" with the paint strokes once they are in.  Make every brushstroke count.  After a wonderful Thanksgiving I am ready to get back into the studio and finish this painting.  I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving...now it is time to decorate for Christmas!  Kay

Old Friends by Kay Wyne

Old Friends
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
8" x 24"
Palette Knife Painting
Yesterday was a good day. I had a visit from an old friend at the studio. We had not seen each other in about three years, and prior to that it had been about twenty years since we had caught up with each other. It was so good to see him, even though he had experienced some life-changing events and losses. It was a good opportunity to catch-up and visit. Just like in the above painting. These feathered friends are yacking away, having a heart-to-heart conversation. I had painted this last week, and put the finishing touches on it yesterday. The canvas might appear to be out of balance, but it was my intention to have have the roosters focused on each other. Once this painting is dry it will be hanging at The Dutch Art Gallery.

Rooster #3 by Nancy Standlee

Watercolor Rooster #3
9"x11" on 140 lb. paper
Art for Sale

I belong to a collaborative group of artists, Canvas by Canvas, and we like to travel and paint together. This rooster was painted while we stayed at the Iron Horse Inn in Granbury. Read about this adventure on my blog here. I took only rooster reference material that weekend and the photos were from a farm near the lake house where we'd stayed near Gun Barrel City.
