The fresh peonies I acquired during my first trip to the grand opening of Market Street (*sound of harps!*) in Flower Mound are holding their own against adverse studio conditions, including two nights of intense glare by my LowelTota spotlight. Little Breezy Red Poppies is the newest daily in Flower Mound Studio. I love mixing blues into my greens when I have flowers with warm colors. Pushing your greens into a cooler spectrum makes them pop against reds and fuschias and gives your whole painting a bit of kick.

Wind Tossed Tulips is one of several paintings that are new in the studio this week, as the holiday gift orders are beginning to pour in one after another. I keep telling myself this is really the first year of my absolute independent for sure business as an artist launch, so working constantly, with no days off, is acceptable, it's what a business owner does. When you really love what you do, it's almost a bit like cheating, sneaking into the studio to work, enjoying packing a painting to ship, tape gun noise and all, even enjoying gesso-ing canvases and cleaning out turpenoid cans - I love every moment of this new life! How lucky I am. I'm not even sure what I could wish for this holiday season, it seems I've been given so much already....What a year this has been. When you wish and when you dream, sometimes the answer is Yes!

It was a banner day in Flower Mound Studio, we had a visitor who flew all the way from Arizona for a private lesson today. Sondra did such a beautiful job on her sunflower and daisy, and whipped out her large painting in just under 2 hours!

Studio helpers AnnieBee and Hannah decided Sondra had actually flown across the country specifically to visit with them. Hannah got to perch on Sondra's lap during my morning demo, and Annie convinced our special guest to throw her toy at least once or twice. Howie and Java joined in the fun at one point, when the doggy gate came down and a bit of pug style pandemonium ensued. Never a dull moment in Howie's house! Thanks so much for visiting Sondra, we hope to see you and Mike again very soon....
