I have done several paintings of this scene  in summer, autumn, and winter as 7"x11" demos; I finally had the time to do a larger one for spring, early spring.  I like to splatter the paint for the snow but I do not like to clean up all the little white dots of paint in my studio!!

This is a painting of  three of our horses, two have been sold.  The photo was taken and a second later their ears were pinned back and they were shaking their heads....wonder what they were talking about.  I was originally going to name this painting the coffee klatch, girlfriends, or the gossip group; but when I started with the blue and green under painting it started to look ghost like.

It is fun to fill the paper with color and watch what appears,like looking at ink dots.  I have several watercolor landscapes that are finished, now I just need to photograph them,  I need a sunny day for better light, maybe tomorrow.

This is another watermedia painting on yuppo paper.  I used Winsor Newton transparent watercolor paint and black gesso. Whenever you touch this paper it lifts the paint leaving almost white paper. The other horse in this battle didn't fare as well.

This painting was done as a demonstration in an adult art class.  After we finished everyone took pomegranates home to enjoy in salads.  It was a learning experience for me, I had never seeded one.

Choosing titles for art is sometimes difficult, my middle school students helped name it, the vote was unanimous.This is another one of the unfinished yuppo paintings that is finally finished, although I may still tweak it a little.    This was done on yuppo paper using watercolor in spray bottles.  I have a few more of the yuppo paper paintings to complete, then on to the watercolors and acrylics.  My New Year's resolution is to complete a painting that I start within one week and finish all those that I have already started, the pile is quite large.

This is the next painting in the experimental phase of my summer painting.  Instead of using gesso, I used matte medium out of a nozzle bottle. I used these colors on a landscape and loved the look so I thought I would try it on a horse!

For this transparent watercolor I used Winsor Newton watercolor paint on 140# arches water color paper.  It was started with an under-painting of yellows, reds, blues, greens. I painted negatively around the fish and seaweed with blues and greens.  The fish just jumped out and a several were painted with a few little details.

I painted this several years ago and never blogged it because I never photographed it.  Finally, it is in inventory, and available for viewing.    It is a favorite of many students.  When my younger students have a class that they can pick their subject matter, I find them looking up to these mountains.  Many students and their parents recognize the Grand Tetons in the background.  It is a beautiful place on the earth.

This was done as a demonstration in an adult class. We all used tissue paper and matte medium on arches 140# watercolor paper.  We chose yellows, orange, reds and purple for our under-painting.  And as typical for me, I saw a landscape and finished it with Winsor Purple trees.
