Contemporary Equine Painting

48" x 48" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

I have been working on this painting for months.  I worked on it all day yesterday in the studio, and now I am not sure if I am finished or not.  I need to put a title on it and a few more highlights, and then it will be finished.  Thanks for looking at my art...this is Day 26 in the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge.  Contact Kay Wyne for purchasing information.  Thanks, KMW

"Wounded Warrior" contemporary equine painting by Linda Bein

"Wounded Warrior"

Watercolor and gesso on yuppo paper

23"x17"

$425

More of the yuppo paper paintings.  Several more to finish, you never know what these will end up being. It is fun to fill the paper with color and watch what appears, like looking at ink dots.  I have several watercolor landscapes that are finished, now I just need to photograph them,  I need a sunny day for better light, maybe tomorrow.

"Takin a Dip" contemporary equine painting by Linda Bein

"Takin A Dip"

Watermedia

22"x30"

$ 895

I am sure that my horses would love to take a dip if they could, that winter coat in 83 degree heat must be uncomfortable. It can't be December, seems like April or May!!   I have several more nozzle bottle equine paintings in progress, hope to finish before the holidays.

"Sunrise Majesty" contemporary equine watercolor painting by Texas artist , Linda Bein

"Sunrise Majesty"

watercolor

22"x30"

$1395

To inquire contact Linda at Lindaabein@gmail.com.

This watercolor painting was started on 140 pound arches cold press paper using winsor newton transparent watercolor and saran wrap.  You place the saran wrap on wet paint and it leaves spaces and lines.  After it is dry you look at it and wonder, "what on earth have I done this time?"  It doesn't look like anything.  After turning it around and looking at it several days or weeks you imagine something on the paper.  This turned out to be a horse.  I could not decide what to name this work so I asked my students.  I combined their suggestions of sunrise and majestic.

Spring Princess Finished Horse Painting by Texas Contemporary Equine Artist Laurie Pace

Spring Princess

I finished this last night. I went with a toned down darker background. It was lighter and very chaotic.  I wanted the horse to dominate.  It is not quite as dark as this image shows. The light was not good for the photography end of this.  This is a different approach for me. If you follow my horse paintings, you know I tend to pull toward the abstract.  The painting is finished withe deep sides continuing on with the content of the mane and the horse itself.
Thank you Darci at the Double HP Rescue for sharing your horses with me.
