June Bloom Geranium by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

June Bloom Geranium

Oil on Archival Panel

June Bloom Geranium is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio, and it's been a busy weekend. I'm not quite sure why I'm just a bit sad tomorrow is Monday. I don't have to go into an office anymore. Now I work right here in my studio when I'm not traveling to teach, with my puggies nearby. I do think the helpers are happier now, they're enjoying having me to boss almost 24 hours a day. Three meals a day, with multiple snacks in between to keep their strength up, visits to the yard to play and chase bugs across the yard with ferocious pug noises, and mid-day nap time to refuel and prepare for dinner, barking at the TV, and swapping pillows in the studio while I gingerly step amongst them while trying to reach the easel. One thing is certain, never a day passes that these little furry clowns don't make laugh. Seems to me they deserve a raise!

Summer Dance Red Geraniums by Floral Artist Nancy Medina

Summer Dance Red Geraniums

Oil on Archival Panel

After carefully checking for wayward tree lizards, I brought a pot of these red blossoms in from my garden to paint tonight. The last time I brought a batch of geraniums in to paint, I carried a large pot of them to the Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas for a workshop there, only to discover a teeny baby lizard had hitched a ride. The entire class screeched to a halt as we built the little guy a mobile terrarium, and the hubby drove him back to our garden and placed him beneath our pear tree in the back yard. None of us could really focus on painting until we received a call letting us know baby lizard was safe and sound. I do think he lived on to proliferate, judging from the dozen lizards who now live on our deck puffing out their chins at one another, competing with one another for the spot on the fence that gets the most sun. What a delight it is to have a job now, that allows me to see this little lizard drama, this summer dance, each morning before going into the home studio, instead of an office. Just one more reason I am so thankful to be a full-time artist!

SOLD ~ Island Geraniums and Violet Infatuations by Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Island Geraniums by Nancy Medina

SOLD
12X12
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Island Geraniums is another Coronado-inspired floral painting, as I sift through my library of over 500 new photos from my trip there last weekend. These images will fuel the muses for some time to come; there is just something about the light on Coronado Island that seems to give the flowers there such a color boost! Like Miracle Grow in the sunshine or something.... I've become infatuated with purple backgrounds recently, and thought a purple background on this painting would be an interesting experiment. What do you think?

SOLD ~ Warm Thoughts Geraniums and a North Texas Workshop by Nancy Medina

 Warm Thoughts Red Geraniums
by Nancy Medina

SOLD

16X12
Oil on Archival Panel

Warm Thoughts Red Geraniums is the newest small work on the easel in Flower Mound Studio, a break (or procrastination tool) from the 60 inch canvas filling up half my studio space today! I had a bit of a dilemma this afternoon, when I noticed the boss had fallen asleep right in the middle of my easel. See actual photo evidence of the above infraction on my art blog today.

Tomorrow I go on a shopping spree for fresh flowers for my 3 day workshop in North Texas this weekend. I have only one seat left, so don't delay - you can read how to register and more here!

Seasons Turn Red Geraniums by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Seasons Turn Geraniums

Seasons Turn Red Geraniums is a new small work on the easel in Flower Mound Studio, while my late blooming geraniums are still fresh enough to deserve the spotlight. I know we should be enjoying all these late blossoms and cool breezy days, but I am so ready for chilly nights, cold wind, and a fire in the fireplace! Let it snow!

The geraniums in my yard are in full bloom, convinced that spring has arrived and they have months and months of sunshine ahead. I'm not going to tell them otherwise! I'm going to celebrate! New Growth Geraniums is the demo I created for the Associated Creative Artists of Dallas today, a nice group of professional painters right here in Big D. Thanks so much to Ann Rogers for her cordial invite to join this talented group!

Confetti Red Geraniums by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Workshop Demo Painting
10X10
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Confetti Geraniums is a new painting and was one of the small workshop demos for my class last weekend. Working weekdays and teaching weekends makes life a little hectic, so I've been using Siri to save texting time. She and I haven't been on speaking terms, though I've had her around for a few months now. She likes my husband more than she likes me. Tonight I asked her to remind me to buy turpenoid Friday. She says she is going to remind me to buy "TURP annoyed." I think she was trying to tell me something...
