Blowing In The Wind by Kay Wyne

Blowing In The Wind
30" x 40" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Aspens - Palette Knife Painting
My painting for the paint challenge was a scraper.  Just didn't make the cut, so I am posting one of my contemporary aspen paintings.  I usually choose a square or vertical format for my aspens, but Blowing In The Wind is on a heavy duty (thick and chunky) horizontal stretcher bars.  I used bold colors, brushes and the palette knife.  The trees are thick and textured, as are the leaves that are falling.  This painting is for sale....contact Kay for purchasing information.  It is ready for a new home!  Thanks, Kay

Together by Kay Wyne

Together
10" x 10" Oil on Gessoed Masonite Panel
Contemporary Aspen Painting
Thick oils, bold colors and lots of texture make this painting a cheery one.  It would look great framed up or sitting on an easel.  I like this size panel...it's not small, it's not big....it's just a great medium size format.  Contact Kay if you would like to purchase...Thanks, and enjoy your Christmas Eve with friends and family.  KMW

Cross My Heart by Kay Wyne

Cross My Heart

60" x 20" Oil on Linen Gallery Wrap

This size canvas is really cool.  It is very vertical, and if you have the right wall space, this canvas might work for you.  The paints were applied with a palette knife, so there is alot of texture on the linen.  I have purposely left the natural linen peaking through, giving the eye a rest.  Thanks for viewing this blog....kay@kwyne.com.

A Day Just For You by Kay Wyne

A Day Just For You
36" x 60" Oil on Heavy Duty Gallery Wrap Canvas
This original oil painting is drying. I focused on the colors, wanting a soft and dreamy look. I believe this is the first time I have painted on this size canvas....it is not huge, and looks great over our sofa in the den. This contemporary abstract would be perfect for an office or home setting. Contact Kay for more information at kay@kwyne.com or 214-532-0325. Thanks for looking at this blog!

"Fire and Gold" birch tree oil painting by Niki Gulley

"Fire and Gold" ©2011 Niki Gulley
oil on canvas • 36" x 48"

I used to love it as a kid, growing up in the midwest, when my family would go hiking in the woods – especially in fall. The crisp feel in the air, the crunching of leaves underfoot and the beautiful autumn colors, along with spending time with my mom and dad were special times. In Fire and Gold I wanted to recreate those warm memories, choosing reds and yellows of autumn to heighten those happy feelings and using energetic strokes with my paint reminiscent of a carefree, simpler time. Building up thin transparent layers of oil paint also add to a certain glow and magic in the final piece.
