SOLD ~ Soft Landing White Hydrangea by Floral Artist Nancy Medina

 Soft Landing White Hydrangea
by Nancy Medina

SOLD
16X12
Oil on Archival Panel

Soft Landing White Hydrangea was my afternoon step by step paint-along for class today in a beautiful lakeside town, Rockwall, Texas. Earlier in the day, we finished up our stock painting (flowers similar to larkspur) and this morning I completed a 16X20 pink rose painting, courtesy of the pink roses growing just outside our studio door, in the park. As I clipped away at pink roses in the park to add to the painting, a concerned jogger raised an eyebrow at me. I assured her we would be painting these, it was for a good cause, the rose would be memorialized for all time ad infinitum, and it was all sanctioned and blessed by the local art club. By then she was half a mile away. I'm not sure if she heard me, but I felt a little less guilty...

I went a little larger than usual with my class demonstration this morning, Breath of Summer Hydrangeas was begun at 9:30 am and finished at 11:45 am, and measures 18X24 inches. With a room filled with enthusiastic students and gorgeous flowers, the energy and happiness was contagious! I am so happy to be teaching in Rockwall, Texas, just north of Kaufman County where I grew up. The weather was sunny and fall crisp, just beautiful today, so we propped all the classroom doors open and listened to kids and pups playing in the park, and saw a very nosy squirrel who kept peering in the door at all those strange humans with paintbrushes in their paws.... Tomorrow we have LOTS of flower choices, pink, white or yellow roses, red poppies, red carnations, what shall we paint? Stay tuned to my art bloggy to find out!

Always Love Pink Ranunculus by Floral Artist Nancy Medina

Always Love Pink Ranunculus
by Nancy Medina
8X10
Oil on Archival Panel

Always Love Pink Ranunculus is the daily newbie this evening in Flower Mound Studio, and today was the first day of my Rockwall, Texas, flower painting class. I had a super talented group of painters, fueled by donuts and a love of bright color. The classroom facility in Rockwall is so nice, and has the special bonus feature of being located right next to the dog park, so we got to listen to happy yaps and barks all day long. My class demo this morning was sunflowers and white pumpkin, stay tuned to the art bloggy, I'll be sharing that with you shortly!

Tea Roses and Hydrangeas and a Rockwall, Texas, Workshop by Nancy Medina

Tea Roses and Hydrangeas

Class Demonstration

16X20
Oil on Archival Panel

Tea Roses and Hydrangeas was one of my class demonstrations in Collierville, Tennessee last week. I've hardly unpacked and it's time to tape up boxes again! I leave Monday for Rockwall, Texas, to teach a 3-day class. This is my first workshop in a town near where I grew up. Rockwall has grown so much over the years, from a very small community now to a beautiful lakeside getaway with great shopping, restaurants, and shoreline homes. Stay tuned for class photos and colorful flowers - something tells me we will be painting fall colors, golds, and warm whites to celebrate the cold front blowing in tonight!
