SOLD ~ Blue Hydrangea Pink Daisy Surprise by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Blue Hydrangea Pink Daisy Surprise
by Nancy Medina

SOLD
16X12
Oil on Archival Panel

Blue Hydrangea Pink Daisy Surprise was my afternoon paint-along demo in class today here in the Texas Hill Country. After polishing off a dozen fresh kolaches, my students and I were properly fueled and ready to tackle a plethora of flowers! I have a nice group of gals from all over the US with me, from Santa Fe to Maryland and even though the morning started chilly, the sun was out and shining by noon. Stay tuned in the next few days for more Hill Country images but while you're waiting for those, visit my art blog to see what REAL Texas kolaches look like!

Blue Ascent Hydrangeas by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Blue Ascent Hydrangeas
by Nancy Medina
16X20
Oil on Archival Panel

Blue Ascent Hydrangeas is the newest painting as my hydrangeas are almost finished blooming. It's been a busy day, staying with mom and so happy she has had several good days in a row. I tried an experiment this afternoon I had seen on youtube, where you can take a fading hydrangea, cut a slice down the side of its stem, and place it in super hot water to push it back to full bloom. I was amazed it worked! I'll share the photos with you tomorrow, after I've had a bit of sleep!

Sweet Clementines and Blue Hydrangea Painting by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Sweet Clementines and Blue Hydrangeas
by Nancy Medina
18X18
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Sweet Clementines, Blue Hydrangeas and White Roses is the newest painting in Flower Mound Studio, as I begin work on a new large rose commission. I love the cold weather that has rolled in, and freely admit to being one of those odd people who start playing Christmas music on November 1 and refuse to take down the tree until February. Fortunately, I do have a helper who likes to keep the tree handy, too, but she prefers to pull things off the tree, rather than hang ornaments on it! Visit my art blog today to see my helper in action....

Blue Element Hydrangeas by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Blue Element Hydrangeas by Nancy Medina
14X14
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Blue Element Hydrangeas is the newest painting in Flower Mound Studio this week as these fresh flowers are fading fast! Today I planted two of their modeling brethren in pots on the deck, with plenty of Miracle Grow soil and a big cold drink of water to get them started.  I'm going to wash up the brushes early today because Java Cheesy, the studio helper with most seniority in the Medina Foster Home for Wayward Pugs, needs a wash and style. He also ordered a massage and a sauna, followed by a snack and a nap. He's sitting on his tempurpedic pillow right now in his robe and slippers, sipping cucumber water and waiting for the attendant to bring him to the treatment room so his spaw afternoon will begin.  So you see, besides smooshing paint around on stretched cloth, I do have other important tasks to do! Have a wonderful weekend, and for heaven's sake, please don't forget to tip the masseuse!

Purple Hearts Hydrangeas, Larkspur and Roses is drying on the easel, as work has begun on a top secret, very large container garden which is going to be a gift for someone very special. It's wonderful being party to great surprises for people I love, it's fun to build something step by step that you know is going to give someone joy.
