Summer Sun Sunflowers is the newest painting on the easel in Flower Mound Studio, and incorporates some of my favorite watercolor techniques into an impressionistic oil still life. I used wet washes of color in the highlight areas, gently blending where they touched the elements along their edges, but not losing those bright spots. This sunflower painting is designed to add some cheer to a sunny breakfast nook or kitchen. The hydrangeas are still fresh and perky here, so I added a few of those blossoms, too, because one can never have too many hydrangeas in any painting, don't you agree?
