This small painting of a sheep at Heritage Village in Dallas sold yesterday, and has a new home in Frisco, Texas.  It is always great to meet new collectors, and see their reactions and responses to my art.  Thanks to Patty and Dennis for visiting me at the studio, and  for giving this guy a new home.  I am off to a workshop for three days, and looking forward to meeting new artists and learning some new techniques for my painting.  Thanks for looking at this blog...contact Kay for more information on my art.  Kay

Waiting by Kay Wyne

Waiting
8" x 10" Oil on Linen
This sweet little lamb was standing at Heritage Village in downtown Dallas.
There were four or five lambs standing in the fenced-in lot staring at the people and cars...as if they were waiting on something or someone. They had a statuesque quality about them.  I did not use a painting medium, so the oils are thick on the linen, giving it some texture.  It will take a while for this one to dry.  If you are interested in purchasing this painting, contact Kay at kay@kwyne.com.  Thanks for viewing....Happy Fourth of July!  KMW

"Sheep, Allen Farm" - Thaw Malin iii

"Sheep, Allen Farm"

"Sheep, Allen Farm", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel.

I caught a glimpse of these sheep as I was driving by. A quick turn around and pull over and I was painting. Wind was blowing with rain threatening on the radar screen as I tried to capture the moment. I jumped in the van, thinking I could finish in the driver's seat as the rain began, but the sheep had other ideas and headed toward the barn. I returned another cloudy day to finish…

The value of this work of art is $550 USD, but, as my gift to you, for the 7 days of the auction each piece is in from the day it is created, you may start bidding at $100 (before the price becomes $550)… This is my way of saying thank you for enjoying my work and keeping me creating new ones almost everyday. Your interest stimulates and inspires me and has made me a better painter for it.

If think you'd like to purchase this piece, please click Go to my Auction, bidding starts at $100.00 USD.

Evening Grazing - Thaw Malin iii

"Evening Grazing"

"Evening Grazing", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel.

Finding sheep in this field is a hit or miss proposition. It is usually a miss. These are the rams of the flock and they are separated now from the ewes across the road. When they next greet the ewes, they will be very excited. In spring we shall find lambs timed to be born toward the end of March, otherwise they would be lambing all winter long. This year I also found a very cooperative sky for my backdrop instead of a bland blue one...

Before Lambs - Thaw Malin iii

"Before Lambs"

"Before Lambs" , this is a Small painting, 6"x 8", oil on canvas panel.

I had planned to paint the barn here, but... It was impossible to ignore these Moms, just days away from birthing. They were patiently awaiting dinner in the shade of the hay barn. Luckily the chore person was 2 hours late. They didn't feel like moving much unless food was involved. This was fine with me...

City Sheep by Kay Wyne

City Sheep
Oil on 18" x 18" Gallery Wrap Canvas
This painting is still now finished. I was driving to the studio a last spring, and in the middle of downtown Dallas is Old City Park...a little village of old buildings and some animals. I was driving, minding my own business and this one sheep was just standing there looking at me...staring at me. I pulled over and took some pics of him. (All of the other goats and sheep ignored me.) So the title of this is City Sheep. This is a fun, wacky animal that was so much fun to paint. I look for him every time I drive to the studio. If you are interested in purchasing this contemporary oil painting, please contact me. Thanks for viewing this blog.

Pastoral Scene by Kay Wyne

This painting has a new home in Illinois....this image is a little different from many of my paintings....I toned the color down. It is peaceful. Not alot of movement. I wanted the viewer to imagine that he or she is out on the Texas landscape...far from the city or the hussle and bussle of anyone. The grazing sheep are images that don't have alot of detail because they are small compared to the vast landscape. The canvas has big, open sky on the painting, so I am sure that some people could imagine this being in Montana or somewhere out west. (At least west of Dallas.) My inspiration for this painting was an old photograph out of an album....I really don't know where the pic was taken, and I added the sheep for interest. I have painted three paintings with sheep, and hope to do more. Thanks for viewing this blog, and I will be painting at the studio today and hope to post the rooster that I started yesterday. Dallas is in for more snow and bad weather, so I hope that I can get downtown. Have an artful day!!!

Lamb Chops by Kay Wyne

Lamb Chops is sold, but I do want to paint another painting of this barnyard character. A friend wanted to buy this painting but it has been sold for over a year. Maybe I will tackle another Lamb Chops today on a different size canvas. I do have several unfinished canvas' at the studio that I should probably work on before I start this one. I hope to have a very productive day...I hope that you do too! Thanks for viewing this blog.

Baaah Evening - Thaw Malin iii

"Baaah Evening"

"Baaah Evening" , this is a Small painting, 6"x 8", oil on canvas panel

Sometimes the sheep make all the difference to the painting. The sun should have been out another 30 minutes as I finished this piece. Instead it went into a cloud bank never to return...
