SOUL PASSAGE by V. Bridges Hoyt

"The soul craves experiences that offer it the rich depths of God. Silence, solitude, holy leisure, simplicity, prayer, journaling, the Eucharist, rituals that touch the space of Mystery, symbols and images, the Bible, laughter, delight in the divine Presence, deep encounters with Creation, and the merciful coming together of human hearts." --Sue Monk Kidd

SOUL PASSAGE • oil on14x18 inch canvas • © V. Bridges Hoyt 2010

The visionary SOUL PASSAGE was painted with a palette knife and thick oil paint. I find images in this painting, but it is for you to read your own images.  This painting can be viewed at the Garden of the Dragonfly Gallery "Windows of the Soul" exhibit opening on Saturday, August 28, 5-8 pm.

A part of me goes into each of my paintings. Sometimes after a painting is finished, I look at it and wonder if you can see my emotion. Colors used, technique and style reflect where I was on that day of my life....

Fourteen of my paintings will be featured on August 28 at the Garden of the Dragonfly Gallery in Old Town Spring, Texas.

Sunny Thoughts by Niki Gulley

"Sunny Thoughts" ©2009 Niki Gulley
oil painting • 12" x 12"

I paint a lot of sunflowers so I wanted to try something different with this piece. Working with extremely thick paint and a palette knife, I love the 3-D effect in this painting. The flat computer screen just doesn't do it justice! I hope they bring you joy, too.

If you'd like to inquire about Sunny Thoughts, e-mail me at niki@nikigulley.com or see the painting in person at the Winter Art Mart at the Bath House Cultural Center in Dallas this weekend, http://www.dallasculture.org/bathHouseCultureCenter/calendarDetail.asp?id=2266.
