This little rooster --- even though he is called Big Red, has bold brushstrokes, and is a very simple painting.  You can see the strokes on the cotton panel.  It was way too cold for me to go outside and photograph-I usually take all of my pics in natural light outside the studio.  So there is a little shine on the panel.  I have a shorthorn started and he is sitting on my easel...I can't wait to get to the studio today to work on him.  Thanks for looking at this blog.  Contact Kay with any comments or questions.  KMW

This is #27 in the 30 Day Painting Challenge....and was one of the paintings that I worked on during the demonstration at Dutch Art Gallery on Saturday.  I guess you could say I was double-dipping, I painted this one painting and used it for two separate projects.  Therefore, the name of The Double Dipper.  If you go to Slices of Life by Leslie Saeta to see all of the art you will be amazed that so many artists are cranking out the paintings.  It is a good challenge to get 2013 going!!!  Thanks for looking at the art here.....Kay@kwyne.com.  KMW

Wide brushstrokes, splashes of color, and thick paint are characteristics of this painting. This red rooster might be giving you the evil eye, he might be very angry, or he could be your everyday run of the mill rooster. I haven't named him yet, so until I figure that out, the title of this piece is Red Rooster. I signed him and I think he is finished. There are layers and layers of color and texture on the canvas.
