Cardinal Nest by Kay Wyne
Cardinal NestOil on 11" x 14" Canvas
Another Nest Series Painting....Very wet, should be ready to frame soon. I finished the Cardinal Nest yesterday. The little tiny eggs are down deep in the nest that was in a bush in our backyard. We are watching the mama and papa Cardinal, and we think that they might be making another nest in another bush. These eggs are not whole...they were broken open and empty when we found them...I had to turn them over and position them so the broken side did not show. Thanks for viewing my blog...have an artful day!

Eleven Eggs by Kay Wyne
Eleven Eggs was a fun painting...from start to finish. It is a contemporary oil painting on a gallery wrap canvas. I have a series of nest paintings...this was the first one that I painted. I like the colors in the eggs and the nest. I hope you do too!

Four Eggs by Kay Wyne

Eleven Eggs
This contemporary oil painting is on a 18" x 18" gallery wrap canvas. This is my favorite size canvas to work on. I just went and purchased more from the art supply store, and I was telling the sales person that 16" x 16" is too small and almost ordinary, and 20" x 20" is too big. But the 18" x 18" seems to be just right!
This painting was in the National League of American Pen Women Expressions Juried Art Show in December, and was awarded First Place. The nest is colorful, with bold brush strokes. The placement of the nest is off-center (another characteristic of my paintings) and placed as if it were falling off the canvas. That makes the nest more interesting than if it was smack-dab in the middle of the canvas.
If you would like to view other nest paintings, please go to my blog or website. I have painted a series of them...Empty Nest, Three Eggs, Four Eggs, Nest on Branch...just to name a few. Thanks for view my art!!!
