Light Catchers, New Contemporary Painting by Sheri Jones

Light Catcher

14x11 oil on canvas

I am so grateful for the warm weather we've had this weekend.  I enjoyed a little porch time and painted this on my patio.  I was struck by the brilliant light on this pot of plants and recorded this while the light was strong.

Hawaiian Flower's Study by Sheri Jones

Hawaiian Flower's Study by Sheri Jones

12 x12 oil on canvas

I created this from flowers I received from my sister. She was in Hawaii visiting her husband's family and sent them to me.  This was the second painting I did from the flowers. Each flower had it's own unique shape and color I wanted to do each one separately, but together.

14x7 oil on canvas

This was painted in Marble Falls during the Paint the Town paint out this past weekend. We were driving around looking for inspiration and passed the plant nursery. I made a mental note to return when the sun was right. We returned the next morning and painted there several hours. I painted this with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint. This painting sold.

This was created with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint. It is available through Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas.

Poppy Passion II by Sheri Jones

16x20 oil on canvas

I created this during my reception at Southwestern Adventist University, Thursday night. My friend Doug Clark was showing his bronze sculptures along side my paintings. He did a sculpture demo during the reception. This brought a new twist to their show. I think it was exciting for the patrons to see the process.

The Gallery is open: March 27 - 30, 2011 1 pm- 8 pm. Meadows Gallery, 101 W. Magnolia, Keene, Texas 76059.

This painting is available for purchase. $250.00
