This tiny teapot is the perfect size for brewing
one cup of tea. It's squatty little shape was more

Nanny's Teapot by Nancy Medina

Nanny's Teapot
20X20
Oil on Canvas

I fell in love with this old antique table and decided the best way to show it off was to put an antique teapot on it that belonged to someone I loved. The pansies were added to celebrate my Nanny. Nanny was my great-grandmother. She lived alone when I knew her, in a big old two story house in Palestine, Texas, with a haunted bedroom and creaky stairs and a wonderful coo coo clock.

Nanny had her own garden and cooked her own meals and hung her clothes on the line to dry. All of this was pretty remarkable considering her age, but even more so because she lost her sight in her 20s from glaucoma. She lives on in my memory and in the memories of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Now I only see her in my dreams, but every now and then a family member calls me by my nickname, Nanny, and I know she is never far away, not really, because she is in my heart.
