Rooster by Kristine Kainer
This bird had issues. It was mean. And it didn't sleep. The crowing began around 2 AM and lasted throughout the night -- ten minutes of the most maniacal screeching followed by twenty minutes of an uneasy quiet. Then the peace would be broken again with more ear-piercing howling. This lasted for eleven days--ten days too many. Needless to say, it was me or the rooster. I won.
As we ponder a return to the farm on a full-time basis in a few years, the thought of having a rooster has returned. They can't all be like that first one, right? Surely, the one we got was possessed, correct? Please feel free to convince me! Meanwhile, enjoy this colorful, QUIET rooster painting. You'll have a great night's sleep.

Coop by Kay Wyne

Several weekends ago, John Wyne and I did the Dallas Coop Tour on a Sunday afternoon….all over Dallas, Texas. We went on a Coop Tour. Basically, it was a tour around the neighborhood, viewing the chicken coops. Actually, it was very interesting…it took us four hours (with map in hand) to hit eleven coops inside the Dallas city limits. Not out in the country! I got lots of pics of roosters, chickens, and even a turkey. Lots of great painting material!

Eggs for Easter - Thaw Malin iii
"Eggs for Easter", this is a Small painting, 6"x 8", oil on canvas panel.
With everyone talking about eggs this time of year I thought it appropriate to explore this subject in paint. Friends invited me over to their hen house for an up close visit. The flock was not so accommodating. Even though I set up far enough away from food, water and entrance/exit the ladies and their cox were having none of it. It wasn't until Katherine came back in with bread and corn to feed them that I became just another fly on the wall...
If you'd like to purchase, please click Go to my Auction, bidding starts at $100.00 US.
