New "Visions of Wildflowers II" Palette Knife Bluebonnet Oil Painting by Niki Gulley

“Visions of Wildflowers II" ©2018 Niki Gulley
36" x 36" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

In this Texas wildflower series, I wanted to capture the excitement and energy felt during a beautiful April day when the bluebonnets are painting the horizon in blue. Driving through the hill country in springtime, there is such an amazing explosion of color from the bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush, coreopsis and the plethora of wildflowers, that it fills your heart with joy and awe. Focusing on the rows of color versus a traditional landscape scene, I felt like I could communicate more of the emotion felt being surrounded by all of this Texas beauty.
