Caged, Zoo Orangutan, Captured Wildlife, oil painting, Freedom

When I completed this painting, it created some controversy ... as though I had been the one to cage the Orangutan.  By painting this zoo animal, I had hoped to show the emotion in the Orangutan's eyes. I think I captured the look of yearning to be free in this 'relative of humankind'. Who is to say what is in this animal's mind?

SOLD ~ This painting is in a private collection in Australia. The purchaser identified with the emotion in the Orangutan's eyes.
