I often cry watching the old westerns as I know the horses were injured many times when they shot movies and shows. We didn't have cruelty laws back then on the sets. There are so many rescue groups that pick up the uncared for horses... and for a time today in my studio... the feeling of betrayal came out on the canvas. His head ducked in emptiness, yet his spirit still alive through the color and movement of the palette knife. With in a moment of tenderness lies the truth of what was.
