This longhorn cow is a member of a herd of assorted cattle that I pass on the way to Stephenville. Her physique is not much to brag about, but her horns are really impressive. Every time I drive by this ranch, I look for the herd, and if they are near the road I stop to get images. I think most of Erath County has honked at me at one time or another while I wade through the chigger-infested right-of-way to get my pictures!

I never run out of models. My neighborhood is full of horses and cattle. By "neighborhood" I mean within 100 miles of my house. This particular cow is developing a nice set of highly coveted twisted horns. I don't know what the record is, but over 6 feet happens frequently in some breed lines.

So many longhorns - so little time. There are near as many longhorns in Texas as there are horses and most of them seem to belong to UT alumni! This one doesn't though. In actuality, he belongs to a friend of mine who has owned him for over 15 years and had him trained to be ridden.
