A TASTE OF TEXAS watermelon oil on cradled wood panel, 10x10 inches © V. Bridges Hoyt 2011 |
Watermelon is traditional fare for Independence Day celebrations in Texas. The sweet, juicy red meat of Texas watermelons can not be beat. I used a palette knife (no brushwork) to paint the watermelon on a cradled wood board. I do love that surface for knife work especially. Colors used include cad red medium, alizarin crimson, cad yellow light, viridian green, raw umber and a little ultramarine blue. Oh, and Titanium white.
