"Soaring High" Palette Knife Aspen Tree Painting by Niki Gulley

Soaring High ©2023 Niki Gulley

30" x 48" • Textured mixed media on canvas

I wanted this painting to be filled with uplifting colors and energetic strokes all leading you skyward, to soar amongst the clouds. Aspen trees reach towards the heavens while gentle breezes cause the sky to dance while you lay on the ground gazing in wonderment. Happy hues, whimsical shapes and a feeling of movement, hopefully transport you to a carefree childhood moment where all of your worries drift away and dreams are created.

"Heightened Awareness" Palette Knife Aspen Tree Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

Heightened Awareness III ©2014 Niki Gulley

48" x 36" • Textured mixed media on canvas

In this painting I wanted you to feel that child-like wonder of staring up in into the treetops and the heavens above. I chose vibrant, cheerful yellows contrasted against a violet blue sky filled with big, puffy clouds. And, by arranging the aspens in a circular pattern heightened by thick, curving paint strokes, that joyful, playful feeling of hope and discovery are enhanced.

If you're in the Madison, WI area this coming weekend and you'd like to see Heightened Awareness and more of my palette knife paintings in person, please stop by my booth at Art Fair on the Square.

Autumn Aspen Painting available as Canvas Prints by Niki Gulley

"Emergence" ©2012 Niki Gulley

20" x 30" or 28" x 40" Embellished Canvas Print

I wanted this painting to be about the power and energy in nature to invigorate your spirit more so than an exact replica of the forest, so I chose to use warm vivid colors and thick staccato strokes to add to that feeling. I placed the foliage in diagonal sweeping shapes to create a sense of movement, so that you can feel the wind gently rustling the leaves and causing them to dance.

Emergence is now available as a stretched canvas print.

I have added thick paint to the prints so they are loaded with texture.

They are UV coated and are stretched with the painting continuing around the edges on 3/4" stretcher bars so that they can be hung as is without a frame, or if you prefer a traditional look, they can be framed also.

Please e-mail me for frame sample and prices or if you would prefer the print on deeper stretcher bars, e-mail me for a quote.

20" x 30" for $295 • 28" x 40" for $495

A close up detail of the added thick paint in the leaves and the trunks.

Print wrapped around 3/4" stretcher bars.

"Transformation" textured oil painting by Niki Gulley

"Transformation" ©2011 Niki Gulley

SOLD • 48" x 60" oil painting

Rather than create an exact replica of the forest, I wanted to focus on brilliant color and simple shapes to see if I could communicate the excitement I feel when surrounded by nature. Using energetic diagonal strokes and thick, textured paint, I hope you get a sense of the motion in the leaves and the power of nature to invigorate your spirit. I just love how this piece captured that essence!
