When painting on location, we don't always plan where we are going, but end up with what interest us. This was the second painting I did on the day I met Linda Miller. While we were painting in this location, the owner of the property came out to see what we were doing.  He was a former painter so he was thrilled to see us. We were painting on Powell Cemetery road and named after his family. They settle in the area in the early 1800's.

I found this wild apricot tree when painting a landscape on location. This was my second one of the day and  a delight to paint.  I had to park the easel close to the road, but fortunately there wasn't much traffic. Plein painting can be a dangerous sport.

Painting on location in December inspired this studio piece. I started with a warm thin layer of  paint to cover the white on the canvas. I then used a lot of grays to project the mood I wanted. I enjoyed using a softer palette on this Texas landscape painting.
