acrylic on hardboard
I was a tom boy when I was young so I never liked buying cloths. Every August my mother would drag all of us to a single department store and we would spend the entire morning trying on and buying school cloths. We also had another tradition which was retrying on the same cloths all over again once my father had gotten home from work. My mother insisted that our father wanted to see what we had gotten. I always got the feeling that he was just as uninterested in this as I was, but we all went along with the process to please my mother. We only got new cloths once a year. If we weren't lucky we'd get them twice a year which meant we'd get cloths as Christmas gifts. Horrible I know. Well my daughter and I just completed school cloths shopping, which she loves. Then she forced me to sit and watch as she retried on each outfit. Deja vu. This series of paintings was almost named "Fashion Show". I think I've gotten polka dots out of my system for now. I added the sequins to this painting because I enjoy looking at how light hits sequins at different points making it look animated.
