Sierra Del Carmen through the Cottonwoods at Rio Grande Village by David Forks

Sierra Del Carmen through the Cottonwoods at Rio Grande Village by David Forks

Oil on linen panel, 9"x12"

This scene has intrigued me for many years and I visit it nearly every time I travel to Big Bend. During the afternoon, the intense light of the desert washes out the distant Sierra Del Carmens while Rio Grande Village is cloaked in shadow from the large Cottonwoods growing in the fertile valley of the nearby Rio Grande river.
