Texas Sunflower Oil Painting by V. Bridges Hoyt

SUNNY YELLOW SUNFLOWER
oil painting on cradled wood board
6x6 inches
ART. Sunflower Mini, oil on cradled wood, 6x6 inches.... Click here to view an earlier sunflower image. This painting was commissioned by a young wife whose husband is military and about to be deployed overseas. I have painted this sunflower completely with a palette knife to achieve lots of texture. There was no drawing for this one. I began by painting tonal shapes on the support which, in this case, is a cradled wood panel with natural birch sides. I have painted lots of sunflowers through the years and always loved painting them. I love painting different elements of Texas such as the landscapes, the people, the animals and the wildflowers. Now my muse is saying, "Paint more sunflowers."

Any questions, click here to contact Vernita Bridges Hoyt. I would love to paint a special painting just for you!
