Big Star Horned Toad

9x12 graphite and prismacolor on Bristol Vellum

Another in my series of critters that are familiar with Texans and Texans-at-heart, the Texas Horned Lizard (horny toad to most of us) has become a rather rare and endangered species.  As a child, I used to keep these little critters as pets.  If you had any big red harvester ants around, you usually had horny toads looking for a snack.  It is said that if they are provoked, they have the ability to shoot a stream of blood from the corner of their eyes.  I guess I never provoked one enough to see that happen, although I've been provoked enough that I felt like shooting blood from the corner of my eyes.  lol

This image is available now at $100 (+tax and shipping where applicable) or I will consider your best offer starting at $50.  The image is presented in a museum quality black core mat.

Happy Trails,
Larry G. Lemons
