"Reflections in Time" - Autumn oil painting by Niki Gulley

“Reflections in Time” ©2011 Niki Gulley
Oil on canvas • 24” x 36”

This painting is inspired by one of my favorite spots just ten minutes from our home in Dallas. It was a perfect autumn day – about 70° with a slight breeze and the peaking autumn colors were more vibrant than usual. With such a gentle wind, the vivid foliage and gorgeous fluffy clouds were reflected fairly clearly in the water and yet at the same time, I chose to create fluid moving strokes to suggest the peaceful energy in that moment.

E-mail Niki Gulley for more information on my fall foliage oils.

New Koi Pond pastel by Niki Gulley

“Playing Tag” ©2011 Niki Gulley
24” x 36” pastel

Black, gold, white, tangerine—quicksilver Koi slice through silent waters while above them water lilies keep an eye on the playful, darting fish. Colors float and ripple across the painting forming tranquil patterns that segue into a loving composition of inverted hearts drawing you into the “heart” of the painting – a happy threesome of lilies in bloom.

To see more of my pastels, please stop by my booth at the Ann Arbor Art Fair this week.

Monet's Madness

30x22 acrylic and watercolor on watercolor paper; lilypads and stems drawn with wax resist. An abstract underpainting was done first then the design was drawn using multiple photos taken in Kerrville, TX. A wet into wet method was used to render this.
