Purple Rain Irises II by Nancy Medina

I received an email from Argyle Acres Iris Farm this week reminding me their season opens April 10. The iris rhizomes we ordered from the arm last year are growing beautifully in our back yard, and every morning I run and to see if the flower buds are starting yet. In just a few weeks, I am hoping to have my own beautiful iris garden.

In the meantime, it's a real treat to know that one of the largest, most amazing iris farms in Texas is just a few miles up the road from Flower Mound. I can hardly wait until the farm opens so I can put on my Iris Papparazzi hat again!

This little iris was my way of tiptoeing up to a much larger iris garden painting I finished this morning. I've been painting up a storm preparing for a couple of art shows in March, one in historic Fredericksburg, Texas, for my one-woman art show on Friday evening, March 5 at The Good Art Company Gallery. I'm excited to be the featured artist at the Gallery for the month of March.

Come by and say howdy if you are in town - it will be a great time to visit one of the prettiest places in the Lone Star State!
