Sapphire Iris is drying on the easel in Flower Mound Studio, as the clock is ticking for my biggest spring art show coming up on March 18 at the Dallas Arboretum. With 24 canvases needing to be prepped, a new triptych waiting for its identity (irises? poppies? how about sunflowers?), and so many new paintings needing frames, tags and hanging wire, I am fast approaching the perfect storm. All I want to do is paint, but I have to put the brushes down soon and start finish work and sales lists and packing.

I tried to talk my staff into mailing out the invites and licking the stamps, but they have a demanding nap schedule (with periodic breaks for eating and barking at leaves and neighbor dogs). Each year, though, I always manage to get it done. The best part of the art show, is standing in the open air, within a few steps of thousands of tulips and flowering trees, at the most beautiful place in North Texas. I'll bring my paints and canvases, and paint a big demo, and try to do too many things at the same time. I hope you'll be there to see it!

Dancing Blue Irises are based on the beautiful photographs of a Facebook friend, Roberta Piemonte, who paints from her gardens in Italy. There was an article in the news today about how Facebook makes people feel better about themselves. I do know that Facebook has opened up my studio to a world filled with amazing friends. At the bottom of my art blog is a white box that shows visitors. I have so many visitors from overseas, I added a translate button. Knowing that the world is filled with people who love art, who practice the craft, and who support one another with encouraging words is a great source of inspiration. Roberta shares her incredible photographs on Facebook with other artists, and has invited us to paint them. Thank you so much for your generosity Roberta!
