I had the pleasure of getting outside and painting on the river in Granbury.  The day started off in the 30's but warmed up quickly. We were peeling off the layers as the day went on.  It was an escape from the hustle of the season.

The play of light on the lake is a never ending display of color.  During the summer we take the boat out in the early hours or as the sun goes down. It is always a beautiful display.

We experience a feeling of peace and a connection to nature. I hope this painting provides you a moment of peace.

This painting evolved from a couple of field studies from the master garden in Granbury. I stirred in a few twist and turns in the small creek leading the eye thru the scene. It was a fun exercise in letting go of the reality and going with a dreamy sunrise.

This is my second painting I did at the master's garden in Granbury.  The mornings are starting off cooler these days. So hopefully I will be able to get out more often. There is just nothing like painting on location. It was surprising to find so much in bloom.
