Cupcake by Kay Wyne

Cupcake
4" x 4" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
This is the smallest painting that I have painted to date. For someone who loves big broad brushstrokes and loose painting, this was a small challenge for me. This cute little whimsical painting would be a great birthday gift! It is fun and colorful. Contact me if you are interested in purchasing this painting. It is ready to hang or sit on shelf. Thanks for viewing this blog!

Wigs by Kay Wyne

Wigs - SOLD

Karin Jurick has a blog, Different Strokes From Different Folks. Every two weeks she posts a photograph, and artists are invited to paint or draw interpretations of that photograph. I think that there were about 75 - 100 artists who participated in this challenge. This past week it was a photograph of a girl in a rowboat on Lake Michigan. I can't wait to start that painting. (not the case with this challenge!!!) A couple of fellow studio partners painted this also, and we agreed that it was a challenge as we grumbled and painted. My painting ended up with some angles, and abstract. Please go to Karin's blog: http://differentstrokesfromdifferentfolks.blogspot.com/ to view all the paintings submitted. This painting is sold.

Sushi

This is the second Different Stroke From Different Folks Challenge that I have painted. The photograph of sushi was posted on March 5th. If you go to http://differentstrokesfromdifferentfolks.blogspot.com/ you can see all the entries from artists who participated. This was the week 25 & 26 challenge. I like looking at the different approaches taken on this painting challenge. I wanted to go with very colorful palette. This painting is on a 6" x 8" panel. If you are interested in purchasing this painting, please contact me!

Eat Your Veggies by Kay Wyne

Eat Your Veggies

Week 37 & 38 of the Different Strokes from Different Folks Challenge was a photograph of a platter of summer vegetables. I painted my interpretation of the photograph using oil paints on a 6” x 8” cotton panel…title: Eat Your Veggies. I am posting the painting that I painted yesterday. It is very wet---lots of luscious oils layered on with brushes. It’s good to have a deadline on a project like this challenge…it pushes me a little bit to finish up a painting to submit. I never seem to have a problem starting a painting, but sometimes I am not motivated to work through a painting and complete it. I had a good time painting this challenge, and it is so much fun looking at the dozens of artists who have posted their works of art on the Different Strokes blog. Just like we are all different, so is our artwork. We all see things differently, and paint them differently. A work of art can be very simple or complicated and may be interpreted in different ways by different people. I hope that you enjoy this painting…it is for sale if you would like to hang this painting in your home. Feel free contact me:
