Balboa Promenade is a scene from Balboa Park, in the heart of San Diego, California. In the spring their butterfly garden is in full bloom, the birds of paradise are six feet tall, and the afternoon light cascades through the historic Spanish arches. Is it any wonder I love teaching here? My class in November included students from across the world, with tours of the gardens and some of my favorite cottage gardens on nearby Coronado Island. Someday I hope to bring the pugs with me on these trips - after all, Balboa Park is pet friendly! Here's one of my favorite photos from the garden, my husband, Carlos, taking a cute little puggy girl named Dandy for a walk down the promenade....
